Growers Give Back

Farm Stand

The Exeter Department of Social Services is now accepting applications for our 2022 "Growers Giveback" program. The program was created to provide access to no-cost produce and dairy to families, seniors, and individuals facing food insecurity in our community. The overarching goal of this program is to improve health and overall quality of life for our neighbors in need, while supporting the local farming community.

We are seeking to partner with local farms to purchase a steady supply of locally sourced produce. Farms will be paid directly for available product on a monthly basis. Funding is provided by the Exeter Department of Social Services, the Exeter Community Food Bank, and private donors. In addition, produce and dairy donations from both participating farms and residents are welcomed and encouraged.

Operating out of Exeter Chapel, the program is set up "farmer’s market style" on alternating Saturdays June through September. Based on a client choice model, we allow those seeking food assistance to shop and choose for themselves what products they receive. This supports individuals in maintaining a sense of dignity and choice, as well as reducing unnecessary waste. The program is 100% volunteer-run and volunteers are available to assist with set up and break down, pick up produce orders, assist clients, and perform deliveries for our homebound residents. The Social Service Director is available at each session to support residents and provide further available resources.

To be part of this unique opportunity, please fill out an application (link below) and return to the Town Clerk’s office by May 9, 2022. Preference will be given to farms located in Exeter. Please reach out to Jessica DeMartino, Director of Social Services for more information.
