Garden Club

Pollinator plants in bloom

A garden club was founded in 2021 to restore the gardens and gardening initiatives at Exeter Public Library. We are looking for new members. Please fill out the Garden Club Sign-Up webform, or send us an email if you have any questions. There are many opportunities to connect and swap plants, growing resources, stories, and ideas with other gardeners.

Seed Library

Club members operate the Exeter Seed Library, which promotes seed saving and makes heirloom and native seeds freely available to all residents. Members solicit seed donations and organize and inventory seeds for public use.

Restoring and Creating Gardens

Club members manage and maintain garden beds around the library, including two pollinator gardens filled with native plants. Our current project is revamping the gardens behind the Exeter Veterans Memorial and the elm tree in front of the library. Volunteers are welcome anytime to weed and keep a watchful eye over the gardens.

Focus on Native Plants

In all of our efforts, the club is enthusiastic about and dedicated to growing native plants. We aim to grow as many locally indigenous plants as possible throughout the library site, and we partner with others to promote the ease and environmental and personal benefits of growing native plants. Our seed library disseminates native plant seeds freely to all residents.
